“The team at Pussy Willow Cat Grooming have done amazing work with my cats. Some Maine Coons will get mats if you just look at them funny and my furry buddies have definitely had that issue. Rurik was a magnificent orange beast with health concerns. I felt heard and respected by Katherine and Mike. I felt very safe with them and when we lost him rather suddenly one night, their sympathy was genuine. It meant a lot to me.

We started Witiges with grooming as a small kitten, bringing him along with his big brother. While he has opinions about it all, the over-sized grey menace always comes home looking beautiful. So much appreciation for both Mike and Katherine. Victoria’s loss is Calgary’s gain!”

Testimonials

“Took my darling son Harley here and it was his first time ever being groomed! He’s a big chonky guy (18lbs) and part Maine Coon, they did an insanely good job at handling him gently while also making sure to create a positive first experience for him. My partner & I are beyond impressed and sad to see the guy move away, but will definitely be on routine visits from now on! Amazing first experience, he looks great and smells even better.”

  • No, cats do not bathe themselves; they lick themselves. The natural oils that build up on their fur over time does not get removed by their saliva. Additionally, licking does not resolve issues such as shedding, hairballs, tangles, mats, dirty bottoms, eye stains, ingrown claws, fleas, dandruff, and other skin conditions.

  • As cats shed throughout the year, the built-up grease and oils eventually cause the shed hair to clump together. As more hair sheds, it adheres to these oils and forms tighter and thicker tangles. If these clumps are not removed, they will become bigger and more painful and uncomfortable for the cat, eventually pulling the skin into the tangled mass. This can lead to the formation of a pelt covering the cat's body, potentially resulting in skin irritation, infections, flea bite dermatitis (hypersensitivity to flea bites from fleas trapped under the matting/pelting), and impairing the cat's ability to walk properly, urinate, and defecate. Left untreated, these conditions can cause sepsis and ultimately lead to death.

  • Ultimately, grooming schedules can vary depending on breed, colour pattern, etc. But generally, we recommend medium/long haired cats be groomed every 2-3 months and short haired every 4-6 months.

  • We don’t allow owners to stay for the grooming process as we find it is just too distracting for the cat, as well as ourselves. As professionals, we need to keep our attention solely on your cat to ensure we are putting their safety first.

  • Yes, we are trained to handle many different temperaments. However, if the cat becomes either too aggressive to the point it becomes dangerous for them or us, or if they become too stressed (panting, peeing, pooing), then we will stop the groom and have you come get your cat. Too much stress is very dangerous for a cat, and we don’t push them beyond what they show us they can handle. That said, we can always discuss other options, such as chatting with your vet about anti-anxiety medications, and then trying the groom again.

  • A Certified Feline Master Groomer (CFMG) is a professional cat groomer who has completed a rigorous certification program offered by the National Cat Groomers Institute (NCGI). This certification signifies a high level of expertise in handling, grooming, and understanding feline anatomy, health, and breed standards. CFMGs have demonstrated mastery in both knowledge and practical skills through a series of exams, ensuring they can provide specialized cat grooming services.
